Open Committee Chair Positions

  • Do you have a knack for grant management and a passion for supporting community-focused events? Cleveland Kurentovanje, a vibrant week-long festival, is looking for a dedicated Grant Manager to help us sustain and grow our funding. Our festival relies on a variety of funding sources, including vital grants, to offer mostly free programming for the community.

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage and maintain our existing grants through thoughtful reporting and timely re-application.

    • Coordinate update calls with granters, fostering positive relationships and transparent communication.

    • Ensure compliance with grant terms and manage all necessary documentation.

    • Work closely with our Executive Committee, who will provide guidance and support.

    Qualifications:

    • Experience with grant management, reporting, or a related field.

    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

    • Strong communication skills for coordinating with granters and the internal team.

    • Ability to work independently and remotely. This role can be done from anywhere outside of Cleveland.

  • Are you organized, personable, and passionate about bringing people together? Cleveland Kurentovanje is looking for a Volunteer Manager to help us coordinate the heart and soul of our festival: our volunteers!

    This lead the following:

    • Volunteer Planning: Work with our festival team to identify volunteer needs for various aspects of the festival.

    • Volunteer Recruitment: Collaborate with the Communications Commitee to recruit enthusiastic volunteers and ensure we have adequate support.

    • Volunteer Coordination: Confirm volunteer attendance, manage check-in at the Volunteer Tent on event days, and ensure volunteers know their roles.

    • Volunteer Appreciation: Make sure volunteers feel valued and are thanked for their time and contributions.

  • As the Mayor of the Cleveland Kurentovanje Children's Village, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-of activities on the date of the Main Festival, located in the Children's Village within the lower level of the Slovenian National Home. Your primary role is to ensure the smooth operation of the Children's Village, guaranteeing a delightful experience for all attendees. You will collaborate with a team of dedicated volunteers to support various activities and maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for children and families. This volunteer role will be actively engaged in the following:

    1. Event Oversight: Manage and oversee all activities within the Children's Village during the festival. Ensure that scheduled events, such as craft tables, story time, and performances, run smoothly and on time. Note: The events and schedule are already organized, and all materials and supplies will be in place. We also have a professional AV team to run the music and mic. Your role will be to help shepherd the transition and introduction of different activities and performers in the Children’s Village.

    2. Supervision and Communication: Act as the point of check-in and escalation for volunteers supporting different stations within the Children's Village. Delegate tasks and provide guidance as necessary to maintain a cohesive and efficient operation. Escalate any concerns or issues to the Executive Committee via walkie-talkie as necessary and provide regular updates on the village's status.

    3. Attendee Experience: Ensure that all attendees, especially children and families, have a positive and engaging experience. Interact with visitors, address inquiries, and provide assistance when needed.

    4. Safety and Tidiness: Maintain a safe environment within the Children's Village. Regularly inspect the space to ensure cleanliness, address any safety concerns promptly, and manage crowd flow as needed.


Sub-Committee Member Positions 

  • Help set up the bars, bartend, and refill beverage stations.

  • Help support the Communications team with press and media outreach and coordination.

  • Help us pump up the crowd and let everyone know what’s going on during the Kurent Jump & the Parade and Main Festival!

  • Help support our Event Chair with helping with all things facilty support… making sure that the festival setup goes to plan and that people movement is smooth.

  • Our Finance committee could use some support from a trustworthy, detail-oriented person in helping with cashier activities on the day of the Main Festival and Parade.

  • Are you ready to bring your energy and enthusiasm to help our festival thrive? We’re looking for a Merchandise Sales Table Point-Person to overseeing merchandise purchases at the table on two days during the 2025 Festival:

    1. Kurent Jump - evening of Saturday, February 22, 2025

    2. Main Festival & Parade Day - day of Saturday, March 1, 2025

    Merchandise sales directly support our not-for-profit festival, helping us provide mostly free programming for our community all week long.

    As the Point-Person for our Merchandise Sales Tent, you will:

    • Unbox and display the merchandise prior to the start of the event.

    • Serve as the primary contact for merchandise sales at the tent.

    • Assist festival-goers with purchases, ensuring a friendly and helpful experience.

    • Manage equipment provided to you, including the cashbox, credit card reader, and more.

    • Work with a team of additional volunteers for support throughout the day who will support you at the tent.

    You’ll be working closely with our Merchandise Chairperson, who handles merchandise procurement and online store coordination, so your focus will be on creating a great in-person experience.

  • Help our Parade Chair by getting parade groups checked-in, lined up and launched down the parade route.
